How to Save with Walgreens New Balance Rewards Program!

Nov 12, 2013 12:00 am

Bitsy had a great quick tip about the Walgreens Balance Reward program. Let's take a closer look on how to save big. And remember - Duane Reade is now part of the Walgreens family of companies, so you can use your card there too!

Okay, those points look great, but how do I get them?!! Here are just a few of the savings I found in this week's ad:

Bonus Buys:
These are good for stocking up on items that you know you use all the time:

Buy 1 Get 1 free with card - Finest Nutrition Vitamins and Supplements
Buy 1 Get 1 50% off - Revlon cosmetics and beauty tools
Buy 1 Get 50% off - Selected foot care
Get 2000 points - Sudafed Cough, Cold or Sinus Relief $6.99 or 2/$12 with card - 2000 points = $2 reward - like paying 2/$10

Register Rewards:
You can earn Register Rewards when you buy eligible items advertised in the Weekly Ad, or in an in-store promotion. Your Register Rewards coupon will print out at the register, with your receipt, to redeem on your next shopping trip. Here are some examples from last week's ad:

Rescue Sleep Liquid Melts - $8 with card, get $8 in Register Rewards - like getting it for free
Colgate Dental Care - $3.09 or 2/$6 with card - $4 Register Rewards on 2 - like paying 2/$2
Pampers Swaddlers or Cruisers - $11.99 each or 2/$19 with card - $3 Register Rewards on 2 - like paying 2/$16
Glade Air Fresheners - $3.19 each or 2/$6 with card - $2 Register Rewards on 2 - like paying 2/$4
Gillette Mach 3 Razor System - $7.99 with card - $2 Register Rewards - combine with $3 coupon inmost Sunday papers - like paying $2.99

Steps with Balance Rewards Program: This one is kind of amazing to me - earn 20 points per mile when you walk or run, and 20 points per daily log when you track your weight using the Seps with Balance Rewards program. There are over 884 000 users, so it's a large online active community to help you get motivated to set goals and earn badges for your healthy activity.

Prescriptions and Immunizations: Get 500 points each, or 1,500 points for 90-day prescriptions. You can also earn points by setting up auto-refills online, or schedule an immunization.

As you can see, there are a LOT of ways to save with the Walgreens Balance Rewards program. I haven't quite got in the habit of checking through the weekly ad, but am going to make an effort to do that from now on. I do keep an eye out when I'm in the store for points promotions - it's an easy way to collect points faster and get those dollar rewards.

Are you a member of the program? Do you prefer to use a different store program? Tell us about it in the comments below!

Allow me to share this to you. Most credit card rewards programs pay card holders for spending and adding to debt. However, Bank of America recently released a brand new card that rewards people for paying off debt. The BankAmericard Better Balance Rewards card incentivizes consumers for paying their monthly bills on time and for throwing in just a little more over their minimum charge.
